Instructions for OSX 10.5 DNS Conversion

  1. Click the blue Apple in the upper left hand corner of your desktop. Click “System Preferences.”
  2. In the window labeled “System Preferences” double-click the icon labeled “Network.”
  3. In the window labeled “Network”, highlight the entry “Ethernet” by clicking it. Note: If the field labeled “Configure” is set to “Using DHCP”, you may close this window. You may disregard these instructions and do not need to continue. If it is set to “Manually”, click the “Advanced” button at the bottom of the window. Ensure that the Lock icon in the lower left hand corner of the “Network” window is set to the picture of an open lock. If it is not, click to change the icon to an open lock.
  4. The contents of the “Network” windows should change. Locate and click the button labeled “DNS”.
  5. Locate the list labeled “DNS Servers” and highlight the entries in blue by clicking. Click the “-“ icon in the lower-left hand corner of the window.
  6. The list labeled “DNS Servers” should now be blank. Hit the “+” icon in the lower left-hand corner of the “Network” window.
  7. In the list labeled “DNS Servers”, a flashing text cursor should appear. Type in “66.242.88.4”. Hit the “+” icon in the lower-left hand corner of the screen. Another line with a flashing text cursor should appear in the list labeled “DNS Servers”. Type in “66.242.89.4” in this field. Click “OK”.
  8. Click the “Apply” button in the lower right-hand corner of the “Network” window. You may now close this window.
